Pre-Operative Hospital Instructions
|
• | We only perform general anesthesia cases on those children that are in good physical condition. This is usually assessed by the anesthesia provider the day of surgery, however there are some times when a pre-surgery appointment is needed to assess the health of your child. Our team will let you know if that is the case. Those patients with KanCare dental plans will need to have a Kan-Be-Healthy (KBH) screening prior to your child's surgery. |
• | Your child must be without major illness two weeks prior to surgery. If your child does get sick in this timeframe, please call our office to see if rescheduling is indicated. Your child may not have anything to eat or drink after midnight (12:00 a.m.) prior to the morning of his/her surgery. If you fail to comply with this rule, your child's surgery will be cancelled. |
• | General anesthesia fees are covered by your child's medical insurance, not your dental insurance. Our team will help you to pre-determine your anesthesia coverage benefit and write all letters of medical necessity as needed to help determine coverage. Fees for anesthesia are billed by the hospital and we are ultimately not responsible for any billing associated with hospital and/or anesthesia charges. |
• | Wesley is requiring that all of our dental patients undergoing general anesthesia see their medical doctor within 30 days of their scheduled procedure. Your child's MD will need to fill out an H&P (history and physical). Once those forms are complete, please fax to: Wesley at (316) 962-7589. |
