Brushing and flossing at home are just as important for your child as they are for you. In addition to their oral care at home, your child also needs professional dental care as well. However, your child should not see just any dentist. Your child needs a pediatric dentist. Tiny Teeth Pediatric Dentistry can help.
What is a Pediatric Dentist?
All dentists go to school for four years. A pediatric dentist is a specialist. To become a pediatric dentist, we must attend an additional 2 to 3 more years of specialized education and training. We specialize providing care specifically for children. We study child behavior as well as the unique needs and development of young mouths. Additionally, we are also able to provide dental care for children with special needs.
What Can a Pediatric Dentist Do?
We provide care for infants, children, and individuals with special needs. We can perform a wide variety of services, including such things as:
• |
Dental cleanings and exams.

Providing a Comfortable Atmosphere for Your Child
Our office is designed to make your child feel more at ease from the moment they walk in. You and your child are greeted by our friendly front office staff. The waiting area is child-friendly, containing all kinds of games, toys, and books.
When your child is called back into the exam room, we continue to try and help them feel at ease. We speak to them in a gentle tone using words that they understand and avoid using scary words like hurt and pain. Before we do anything in their mouth, we tell them what the tools are for and why we are using them, show them how they work, and then perform the task. This helps to make scary-looking tools seem less intimidating. The tools we use are smaller than standard dental tools, so they are more comfortable for smaller mouths.
We encourage your child, and you, to ask questions about anything that they do not understand. We will work with you and your child to help them understand the importance of good oral hygiene and can help them to develop good habits at home. Additionally, during the appointment, we encourage you to hold the hand of your child or bring a comfort object for them to help them feel more at ease. We believe that creating positive experiences will help them to begin to associate us with good things, and will, therefore, become less fearful of future visits.
