IV Sedation Pre-Op Instructions

| • | Please read and become familiar with all pre-operative guidelines that have been given to you and issued by Special Anesthesia Services (SAS). This information is important for the safety and well-being of your child as well as describes the conditions that must be met prior to safely sedating your child. |
| • | Because of the amount of time and resources dedicated to your child's IV sedation appointment it is IMPERATIVE that we have working contact information (working phone number) one week prior to the procedure and up until the day of the procedure. If we are unable to reach you by phone one week prior to your child's sedation or any time from one week prior up until the sedation date, your child's appointment will be cancelled and will not be rescheduled. Failure to follow the dietary restrictions will result in the cancellation of your child's surgery, and we will not be able to reschedule your child for any future sedation appointments. Please update your contact information if needed by calling our office at (316) 202-0140. |
| • | Any cancellation for an IV sedation appointment must be received at least 48 hours in advance. |
| • | If a sedation cancellation is received with less than 48 hours notice prior to sedation appointment or if the child fails to show (no-show for sedation appointment) we will be unable to reschedule for any future sedation treatment at our office. |
| • | Due to amount of care required by the parent/guardian while your child is recovering, siblings are not scheduled on the same day for sedation. For this reason as well, we recommend leaving other children at home in order to be able to focus your efforts on your recovering child. We also ask that you bring another adult with you to the sedation appointment to assist in the transport of your recovering child. |
| • | Our office will contact you one week prior to your sedation appointment to confirm your contact information and issue you your check-in time. Please do not ask for this information prior to one week before your appointment day as times are set based on the ages and medical needs of the children that are scheduled on that particular day. |
| • | Your child's dental treatment will be pre-determined with your dental insurance policy prior to your sedation appointment. Any portion of the treatment that is uncovered and is the parents/guardians responsibility will be considered the sedation procedure deposit amount and must be paid in full one week prior to your child's sedation appointment. Our office will contact you with this amount and assist you in payment arrangements. |
| • | Payment for sedation procedures is handled by Special Anesthesia Services (SAS) directly. Please contact them at (316) 788-5939 for payment arrangements. |
| • | For the safety of your child, you must return any phone calls and/or voicemails that you receive from Special Anesthesia Services (SAS) or our office, Tiny Teeth Pediatric Dentistry |
| • | After your child's sedation appointment, you will be given post-operative care instructions to maintain the dental work done. It is imperative that you follow these instructions, especially those related to diet and home care to ensure the longevity of your child's dental restorations. |
